AI Redaction Software for Video, Audio, Documents, Images and DICOM
Redact faces, voices, plates, screens and written identifiers automatically, then prove it. Every redaction carries the exemption it was made under, and the whole AI stack runs inside your network when it has to, down to fully air-gapped.
County and state agencies, legal aid and enterprise teams redact on Redactor

What You Can Redact
Video Redaction
Faces, plates, weapons and screens tracked across every frame, including 360 degree footage. Bodycam, CCTV, dashcam and recorded meetings.
Learn moreAudio Redaction
Spoken identifiers removed from recordings, with speakers told apart so the customer is redacted and the agent is not.
Learn moreDocument Redaction
Documents
Scanned, rotated and badly photographed pages, mixed text and images, with the underlying text removed rather than covered.
Learn moreImage Redaction
Images
Faces, plates, badges and screens across large batches, in the formats you actually hold.
Learn moreDICOM Redaction
Patient identifiers burned into the pixels and written into the header tags, handled as separate operations. Output stays DICOM.
Learn moreWhy Redaction Is Harder Than It Looks
Faces move, frame to frame
At 30 frames per second a single minute of footage is 1,800 decisions about the same person. Detection runs per frame and tracking carries the mask through movement, turning away and re-entry.
DICOM identifies twice
The modality burns patient text into the pixels and the same identifiers sit in the header tags. Clean one surface and the other still identifies the patient.
Scans are never tidy
Pages come in rotated, photographed at an angle, mixed text and embedded images. A tool that reads clean digital text and stops there misses most of a real backlog.
Who said it decides the cut
The customer's card number has to go and the agent's script has to stay. Speaker separation is what makes that distinction available to the redaction at all.
Metadata survives redaction
A file that masks every face and still ships GPS coordinates, device identifiers or an author name has not achieved what the redaction intended.
How It Works
Ingest
Files arrive together whatever their formats, hashed on arrival so integrity can be shown later.
Detect
Faces, plates, weapons, screens, spoken identifiers and written PII are found automatically, against a compliance framework if you select one.
Review
An operator confirms or corrects each detection. Nothing releases on the model's word alone.
Release with the reason on it
The redaction is burned into a new rendition with the statutory exemption drawn onto the mask, and the original is retained.
Where It Runs
Shared SaaS
VIDIZMO, multi-tenant with isolation by tenant identity
Dedicated cloud
VIDIZMO, isolated tenancy
Private cloud
You, in your own cloud subscription
On-premises
You, your data centre, your hardware
Hybrid
Cloud application reaching on-premises directories and storage
Air-gapped
You, disconnected from the public internet entirely
Plenty of vendors say on-premises and mean the application runs locally while the AI still calls a hosted API. In an air-gapped deployment the whole stack is local: language models through vLLM or Ollama, plus local models for transcription, computer vision, OCR and PII detection. No content and no inference request leaves.
Defensible by Default
The exemption is on the file
51 statutory codes ship across US FOIA, UK FOIA and the Privacy Act, and custom lists are defined per organization. The code is drawn onto the redaction, so a requester sees the basis without being sent to a separate log.
Coverage against the framework
When a job runs against one of twelve frameworks, the dashboard states what proportion of that framework's identifier set was actually redacted. It answers whether a release meets the standard, not merely that redaction happened.
Custody runs to disposition
Every action is recorded with the user, their email address, the IP address they acted from, the local date and time, and the event, across roughly 36 event types.
What This Looks Like at Volume
Video release cut from 62 days to 7
Public safety
A county agency with 175 cameras and two disclosure staff. Video was 28% of requests and 76% of the redaction hours. Missed-deadline notices fell from 50 a month to 12.
Learn more1.1 million call recordings redacted in-county
Privacy
A California county of over 3 million residents needed to analyse health and human services calls, but CCPA and CPRA meant PII could not leave its possession. Redactor ran inside its own private cloud.
Learn more4 million pages a year on one deployment
Scale
The Department for Work and Pensions in the UK runs roughly 5,000 users against 4 million pages a year. The largest documented deployment.

Insurance
An insurance claims operation redacts documents, checks and statements alongside photographs, inspection video and recorded calls. A document-only tool covers the statements and leaves the photographs.

FAQ
Redaction questions, answered
What is redaction software and how does it work?
Redaction software permanently removes sensitive information from videos, audio, documents, and images before sharing. VIDIZMO Redactor uses AI-powered object detection, OCR, and natural language processing to automatically identify faces, license plates, names, and PII, then applies blur, pixelation, or black box masking that cannot be reversed.
What is the best AI redaction software?
The best AI redaction software handles every file type, redacts in bulk, and meets your industry's compliance standards. VIDIZMO Redactor supports video, audio, documents, images and DICOM medical imaging on a single platform, offers shared SaaS, dedicated and private cloud, on-premises and fully air-gapped deployment, and produces permanent redactions with a statutory exemption recorded against each one and a full custody trail.
Can AI redact documents, videos, audio, and images automatically?
Yes. VIDIZMO Redactor automatically redacts all four media types in one workflow. AI detects and tracks faces, license plates, and weapons frame by frame in video, removes spoken PII from audio using AI transcription, and uses OCR to mask sensitive text in scanned documents and images.
What is PII redaction and how is it different from data masking?
PII redaction permanently removes personally identifiable information like names, SSNs, addresses, and financial data from files. Unlike data masking, which substitutes real values with fake ones for testing, VIDIZMO Redactor permanently obscures the original data with no way to recover it, meeting HIPAA, GDPR, and FOIA disclosure standards.
Is redacted information permanent, and can redaction be reversed?
VIDIZMO Redactor produces permanent, non-reversible redactions. The underlying data is removed from the file, not just hidden visually, so it cannot be copied, selected, or recovered. This differs from manual black-out in Word or Adobe, where hidden text often stays in metadata and can be extracted.
Is AI redaction software compliant with HIPAA, GDPR, CJIS, and FOIA?
VIDIZMO Redactor helps organizations meet HIPAA, GDPR, CJIS, FOIA and CCPA by permanently removing PHI and PII before disclosure. Compliance features include role-based access control, AES encryption at rest and TLS in transit, detailed audit logs, chain of custody reporting, coverage reporting against twelve frameworks, and on-premises or government cloud deployment to keep data within your jurisdiction.
How is AI redaction different from manual redaction in Word or Adobe?
Manual redaction in Word or Adobe relies on users blacking out sensitive data one item at a time, and the underlying text often stays embedded in the file. VIDIZMO Redactor automatically detects PII across thousands of files at once and removes it permanently from the source.
What file types and formats can VIDIZMO Redactor handle?
VIDIZMO Redactor supports 300+ file formats across video, audio, documents, images and DICOM. This includes bodycam, CCTV, dashcam and 360 degree video; call recordings and telehealth audio; PDFs, Word, Excel and scanned documents through OCR; JPEG, PNG and other image formats; and DICOM studies, where identifiers burned into the pixels and written into the header tags are handled as separate operations.
