Redaction Before Evidence Goes to Court or Out Under FOIA
The chief legal officer for the State of Georgia manages digital evidence arriving from between 29 and 50 law enforcement agencies, reaching more than 100 users. Two exits from that repository need redaction: the courtroom and the public records request.

The Situation
Storage was solved; usability was not
The office holds evidence in LEMS, its own centralised repository on AWS S3. Secure, but without playback, advanced search or analysis, so legal teams reached for extra tools and manual effort to find and assess files.
Evidence arrives from dozens of sources
Between 29 and 50 agencies contribute, and access has to be managed for over a hundred users without the repository becoming unnavigable.
Two disclosure paths, both consequential
Personal information has to come out before evidence is presented in court, and FOIA requests have to be answered on their own terms.
What Was Deployed
Redactor was implemented for automated redaction of personally identifiable information and bystanders in video evidence, before submission to court or release under FOIA.
The wider deployment integrates VIDIZMO's evidence platform with LEMS, so LEMS stays the primary store and evidence is ingested with its metadata for search and analysis. The existing repository was not replaced.
Why It Works
Bystanders are the part people underestimate. A recording made lawfully in a public place routinely captures people who are not subjects of the matter, and their appearance in a released file is a disclosure the office never intended to make. Detecting and masking them is what separates a release that can be defended from one that cannot.
